Course Outline

Each week learners are provided with a reading and a writing assignment, the latter due on the first day of the following week.

These assignments will be the basis for a step-by-step process by which learners, by the end of the course, will have at least one completed article and two queries developed with international, multi-markets in mind.

This course will provide writers with the knowledge and techniques to sell their articles simultaneously to markets around the world -- therefore decreasing their workload, while increasing their per article income.

  • Finding Foreign Publications
  • The Approach Assignment: Develop three international article ideas.

Lesson 2:

  • The International Query
  • What's for Sale
  • Rights Assignment: Develop 1 idea into a query

Lesson 3:

  • In-flight Magazines
  • Hong Kong Markets
  • The United Kingdom Assignment: Find 5 markets, around the world, for your query.

Lesson 4:

  • Hot Selling Global Topics
  • Foreign Language Sales Assignment:
    • Submit your queries
    • Develop a second international query

Lesson 5:

  • Using Foreign Agencies
  • What's it Worth?
  • Assignment: Find five markets for your second query.

Lesson 6:

  • Using the Net
  • It's a Business Assignment:
    • Send out second query;
    • Develop a list of "backup" markets for rejected queries.
  • Student questionnaire.
